Spyder Direct To Screen Wax (Box)
Specialty phase-change wax formulated for compatible Spyder Direct-to-Screen imaging systems, providing dense, consistent digital screen imaging for accurate exposure and repeatable screen production.
Characteristics
Spyder Direct To Screen Wax is a specialty imaging consumable designed for use with compatible Spyder Direct-to-Screen (DTS/CTS) screen imaging equipment. The wax is used during the digital screen-making process to create artwork directly on an emulsion-coated screen prior to exposure.
Direct-to-screen imaging eliminates the need to output, align, handle, and store traditional film positives. Instead, the Spyder system digitally applies the image mask directly to the coated screen, helping streamline prepress workflow and improve screen-room efficiency.
During imaging, the system precisely deposits wax onto the screen according to the digital artwork. The deposited wax creates the image mask required for the subsequent exposure process, blocking exposure light in the appropriate image areas while allowing the surrounding emulsion to harden.
Consistent wax deposition is important for producing sharp image edges, fine details, halftones, lettering, and other screen-printing graphics. Using wax designed for the Spyder imaging process helps maintain reliable image density and repeatable screen-to-screen results.
Digital direct-to-screen imaging can also improve registration consistency by removing several variables associated with traditional film-positive production and positioning. This can help reduce prepress setup time and simplify registration when screens reach the printing press.
Spyder Direct To Screen Wax is intended as a replacement production consumable for compatible Spyder imaging equipment. Keeping an adequate supply of wax on hand helps prevent interruptions in CTS screen production and allows screen rooms to maintain an efficient digital imaging workflow.
