SKU CCI-IW18-5G

High-solvency, water-soluble multi-purpose screen wash and ink degradent engineered to remove plastisol, water-based, solvent-based, poster, UV, and vinyl inks while helping eliminate ink stains and ghost images from screen mesh.

Characteristics

The CCI IW-18 Ink Degradent is a professional multi-purpose, water-soluble screen wash formulated for effective ink removal and screen reclaiming. Its high-solvency formula is highly effective on plastisol, water-based, multi-purpose solvent-based, poster, UV, and vinyl screen printing inks, making it a versatile cleaning chemistry for textile, graphic, and industrial screen printing applications.

IW-18 is designed to remove ink residue while helping protect screen mesh from deep staining and ghost images caused by the printed image. Reducing these stains during the cleaning process can make complete screen reclamation easier and help extend the useful life of screen printing mesh.

In addition to routine ink removal, IW-18 is an effective plastisol ink haze and ghost-image remover. Its aggressive cleaning action attacks image stains remaining in the mesh while maintaining a non-corrosive, mesh-safe formulation.

IW-18 is especially effective on dried-in water-based inks, helping dissolve stubborn dried ink on contact. This makes it useful for shops working with both conventional plastisol inks and water-based printing systems where dried ink can be particularly difficult to remove from screen mesh.

The versatile formula can be used in recirculating screen wash systems, dip tanks, immersion cleaning processes, and automatic screen reclaiming machines. It can also be applied manually using a scrub pad, spray bottle, or pneumatic pump system.

For applications where full-strength chemistry is not required, IW-18 can be diluted with up to 50% water. The concentration can also be adjusted for compatible automated screen washing equipment depending on the cleaning requirements of the application.

With its combination of low odor, high solvency, high load capacity, high flash point, and non-flammable formulation, IW-18 is well suited for professional screen rooms processing screens on a regular basis. The product is also formulated without Alkylphenol Ethoxylates (APEO) or Nonylphenol Ethoxylates (NPEO).

Usage Tips
  • Card or scrape excessive ink from the screen before applying IW-18 to reduce chemical consumption.
  • For manual sink cleaning, apply IW-18 to the ink side of the screen and agitate the ink on both sides using a non-abrasive scrub brush or pad.
  • Thoroughly rinse all ink and chemical residue from the screen using high-pressure water.
  • When pressure washing, work from the bottom of the screen upward to help prevent loosened ink from locking back onto the mesh during rinsing.
  • For haze and ghost-image removal, first remove the ink and emulsion, then apply IW-18 to both sides of the screen.
  • Scrub both sides with a non-abrasive brush or pad and allow the chemistry to work for a few minutes, with dwell time adjusted according to the severity of the stain.
  • High-pressure rinse the screen thoroughly after haze removal.
  • For recirculating systems, IW-18 can be continuously recirculated until the chemistry becomes excessively contaminated with solids.
  • Used chemistry may be filtered and reused when appropriate for the cleaning process.
  • IW-18 can be diluted with up to 50% water when full-strength chemistry is not required.
  • Adjust dilution strength in compatible automated screen washers according to ink type, contamination level, and cleaning requirements.
  • Always follow current manufacturer instructions and applicable safety procedures when handling screen cleaning chemicals.
