Specialty plastisol ink additive designed to create raised, flexible puff effects while increasing printed opacity, delivering excellent adhesion, stretch, and wash durability for dimensional textile screen printing.

Characteristics

Avient K2982 ASI Flexipuff Additive is a specialty plastisol ink modifier designed to create raised, flexible puff effects in textile screen printing applications. When mixed with compatible plastisol inks, Flexipuff allows printers to transform standard colors into dimensional puff inks for creating elevated graphics with added texture and visual impact.

Flexipuff can be mixed at up to 30% by weight for a slight puff effect with increased opacity. The amount of additive, ink deposit, stencil thickness, print passes, and curing conditions can be adjusted to produce different levels of dimensional texture.

In addition to creating puff effects, K2982 Flexipuff Additive can be used at up to 2% by weight to reduce the gloss of plastisol inks. This makes Flexipuff a versatile additive for printers looking to modify both the texture and finished appearance of compatible plastisol ink systems.

The additive provides excellent adhesion to suitable fabrics along with good stretch properties and wash durability. Avient recommends printing directly onto the fabric for best puff results. Different effects can also be achieved through multiple print passes, flash curing, thicker stencils, and overprinting with standard or specialty inks.

Flexipuff is suitable for printing on 100% cotton, cotton blends, and some synthetic fabrics. Because puff colors can lighten as they expand, Avient recommends selecting a Pantone® color approximately two shades darker when attempting to achieve a specific finished color.

Usage Tips
  • Mix Flexipuff thoroughly into compatible plastisol ink before printing.
  • Add up to 30% by weight to create a slight puff effect with increased opacity.
  • Add up to 2% by weight when the primary goal is reducing plastisol ink gloss.
  • Print directly onto the fabric whenever possible for the best puff development.
  • Use consistent, properly tensioned mesh and sharp-edged squeegees for consistent print results.
  • Multiple print passes, flash curing, thicker stencils, and overprinting can be used to create different dimensional effects.
  • For multi-color designs, flash the puff layer before overprinting additional colors.
  • Puff colors typically lighten as they expand. When matching Pantone® colors, consider starting approximately two shades darker than the desired finished color.
  • Large solid puff areas can cause lightweight fabrics to pucker. A mezzotint or dot pattern can help reduce this effect.
  • Cure according to Avient's recommended parameters and verify the complete ink deposit reaches the required cure temperature.
  • Always test the ink mixture, fabric, print parameters, and curing conditions before beginning production.
  • Store between 65–90°F (18–32°C), avoid direct sunlight, and use within one year of receipt.
